Scalar confinement in a relativistic hydrogenlike meson

Wavefunctions of a relativistic heavy quark-light quark (Q, q) system described by a Dirac hamiltonian with a linear Lorentz scalar confinement potential (S) are analyzed. It is found that they are normalizable and that they do account for the Klein paradox. Calculation of the slope of the Isgur-Wise function at zero recoil point gives ξ(1) = −1.05 ± 0.02. This suggests that if one considers relativistic effects, scalar confinement is favored for such a bound system in low orbital angular momentum states.
